When we go to Mass, we do so to worship. So often people think, “Oh, what am I gonna get out of the Mass?” Well it’s kind of, you know, what John F. Kennedy said, “Don’t ask what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country,” so, too, it’s not so much ‘what do we get out of Mass,’ but what do we give? Now we do get a ton out of Mass, we get the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, we get eternal salvation, and so on and so forth, but just desiring that can be selfish. When we go to Mass, we go to Mass to worship. To worship God. That’s a huge point, and we often miss that. A couple of other things that’ll help us with the Mass is to follow along. There are a couple of different publications. You can follow the whole Mass, all the prayers, the consecration prayers, the readings, the whole 9 yards. When I was in seminary that always helped me to pay attention and to get more out of Mass.
